I though about watching the show, but Zooey’s character just seems so hopelessly co-dependent and annoying. Is she? Like a hipster-version of the archetypal Dumb Blonde?

I wouldn’t say she’s co-dependent, at least no more than most other sitcom characters (the male characters on the show are also hopeless). She’s been asserting herself as the show continues. The question of whether she’s annoying depends on how you respond to Deschanel in general. I think she’s funny and cute, so she’s not annoying to me. I know some people that can’t stand her, though. Honestly, I find it amusing how offended/angry people can get at both her and the show. It’s just a silly little sitcom!

Another reason why I got so into the show over the last day is that I’ve been getting up early for the first time in months this week and wanted something light to just unwind with. I liked hanging out with these characters, I mean. I should start watching more Happy Endings…
