These awards are practically as invalid as the fucking Grammys now.
The fact that Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close was nominated for anything—let alone Best Picture—shows how far up their own ass the Academy is.
Also, why no love for Albert Brooks in Drive? It was bad enough that he lost to Plummer at the Golden Globes (Beginners, ugh); he wasn’t even nominated here. Sydow is a great actor, but seeing him possibly win for Extremely Loud is kind of like saying that Raul Julia should have swept the all the awards shows for his performance in Street Fighter. Except for, you know, how I’d rather watch Street Fighter multiple times. It’s honestly not that bad.
Speaking of the Golden Globes: those had better nominees, this year! Can we switch the two in terms of which one people perceive as being more important?
