Military video captures destructive power of... →
Okay, I’m opening up bets: How long until the U.S. military develops Metal Gear Rex? I for one hope it doesn’t fall into the real-life Outer Heaven that the dude who founded Blackwater created last year.

Derek Walcott, "Love After Love" →
sharingpoetry: The time will come  when, with elation  you will greet yourself arriving  at your own door, in your own mirror  and each will smile at the other’s welcome,  and say, sit here. Eat.  You will love again the stranger who was your self. Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart  to itself, to the stranger who has loved you  all your life, whom you ignored  for another, who knows...

She Said, She Said.: The problem with Tom and Ann →
feministfilm: bmichael: wonklife: The problem with the Tom and Ann subplot in this season of Parks & Recreation is that it’s forcing viewers to confront the unpleasant fact that if they actually knew Tom Haverford in real life, they would hate him so, so, so much. I… OH SNAP! That second piece of commentary—a rebuttal for the OP—rules. I never noticed the Tom...

backshootingford replied to your post: Today I overheard two of the eighth-graders discussing Tumblr in class. Track them down and learn their darkest secrets. You know you want to. The best part is that I’m pretty sure they were talking about a Nutella post? Man, everyone on Tumblr loves that stuff (myself included).

Like, Arino just walked into an arcade and played a round of Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram. a) there are no arcades near me. b) that game never had a wide release in arcades in the States anyway. I did manage to play the original Virtual On as a kid in a local arcade though, before they all shut down.

I’m also hoping that The Descendants picks up something. That being said, I really don’t care about this. We can all agree that the “Academy” (lol) is essentially nothing more than a bunch of old white men with questionable taste in film, right?

…only to find her in the same room I left in the first place. This has happened three times in the last week or so. Topaz has found this alcove no one can reach, behind wall in the TV; it’s easy for her to access (and is safe!), but I can’t look in and see her well. Which means I look all over the house for her, when she’s usually right in there. She’s been here a...

– Tim Rogers, in his review of Super Mario 3D Land. Only he could turn a videogame review into a postmortem of a long-distance relationship that never was. I know that a lot of what Tim does online is an act, but this felt genuine to me.
